Impersonation of Vertex in Fraudulent Recruitment

We have been alerted to a series of scams involving the impersonation of Vertex Holdings and Vertex Ventures in fraudulent recruitment and job offers.

Individuals falsely representing themselves as employees, recruiters or representatives of Vertex have been approaching members of the public through LinkedIn, email, encrypted messaging applications (such as Signal) and other channels, offering employment opportunities that do not exist. Recent cases include the following.

• In one case, a purported “recruiter” emailed individuals to offer a “Chief AI Officer” position at Vertex. No such position exists.
• In another, a person using the name “Ian Phillips” contacted individuals via LinkedIn, claiming to be a professional recruiter engaged by Vertex to build out a “North American leadership team”, before directing them to an unverified Signal account operated by an “Alice Zhang”, who claimed to be “Head of Vertex’s North American Operations” and requested that resumes be sent to a personal email address.
• In a further case, a person using the name “Xinyan (Mary) Zhang” claimed to be a “Partner and Director of Human Resources” at Vertex Ventures.

In these schemes, the impersonators typically use fabricated names and job titles, communicate from personal email accounts or unverified messaging profiles rather than official Vertex channels, and may request resumes, personal particulars, financial details or payment.

These are scams and are not associated with Vertex Holdings nor Vertex Ventures. The individuals named above are not employees of, and are not authorised to represent, Vertex.

Vertex does not solicit job applications through personal email accounts or encrypted messaging applications, and does not request payment or sensitive financial information as part of any recruitment process. Legitimate Vertex correspondence is sent from official Vertex email addresses, and our team members are listed on our official website.
