Hakimo Raises $12M, Reaching $32M in Total Funding to Build the Command Centre for Physical Security
Vertex Holdings14 Jul 2026As guard costs rise and legacy surveillance falls short, Hakimo is turning existing cameras into an AI-powered security team
Physical security has a scaling problem. Guard costs keep climbing, labour shortages persist, and legacy camera systems generate more noise than insight, leaving property operators to sift through hours of footage after something has already gone wrong. For real estate portfolios spanning millions of square feet, the maths simply doesn't work: more cameras should mean better security, not more blind spots and higher headcount.
Hakimo's answer is to make the cameras operators already have smarter, rather than adding more of them. By layering AI intelligence onto existing camera infrastructure, Hakimo lets a single operator monitor what previously required ten, flagging genuine threats in real time instead of drowning teams in footage. "The opportunity to modernise physical security is enormous, and we're just getting started," said Sam Joseph, CEO and Co-Founder of Hakimo.
The results are already visible at scale. Customers using Hakimo have reported up to a 60% reduction in security incidents, and the platform now monitors millions of square feet of real estate around the clock, from Fortune 500 enterprises to multifamily communities like American Landmark Apartments. Over the past 12 months alone, Hakimo tripled revenue year-on-year, grew its customer base past 300, and doubled its team, including the addition of Bret Knobelauch as Chief Revenue Officer. The company has also expanded its platform with AI-Powered Forensic Search, pushing beyond real-time monitoring into deeper investigative capability, and is now looking to extend into non-security use cases such as safety and compliance.
This shift reflects a broader trend across the built environment: property operators are under growing pressure to do more with less, and are increasingly turning to AI to close the gap between rising security expectations and flat headcount budgets.
Vertex's Perspective
Hakimo has closed a $12M growth round, bringing its total funding to $32M. Vertex Ventures SEA & India participated in the round, continuing its support of the company as it deepens its presence in real estate and accelerates into new markets and geographies.
As physical security continues its shift from passive surveillance to active, AI-driven intelligence, Hakimo is positioned to extend its platform well beyond its original footprint, into the broader set of problems facing operators of the built environment.
